Rules of the Box

RULES OF THE BOX

1.  Arrive Early – Arrive early and stay late.  Cheer, support, & encourage others.  Use your time before class to work on anything you would like to improve (doubles, pull-ups, PVC work, etc.

2.  Sign In – Upon arrival scan your card.

3.  Chat Less during Instruction – Please be respectful of your coach and your fellow CrossFitters.  Just because you know how to do it, doesn’t mean the person standing next to you does.  It is hard to start class on time if your coach has to repeat himself/herself more than once.  If you are reminded more than once, there will be a “10 Burpee penalty

4.  Accidents and Injuries – Accidents and injuries can happen and usually come as a result of impatience.  Slow down.  Stay in control.  Ask questions.  Ask for help if you need it.

5.  Show Respect – To both the equipment and those around you.  EMPTY barbells were not designed to be dropped (neither were dumbbells or kettlebells).  We don’t want our equipment broken unnecessarily.  Yelling, screaming, cursing will happen.  However, be mindful of those around you, especially if there are children in the box or prospective athletes on a tour.

6.  Clean Up – Clean up sweat blood, chalk, dirt, handprints, used tape, sweaty towels, and equipment when finished.  If you use a rower, wipe it down.  Try to wait until everyone is done the WOD before cleaning up.  This also means NO SPITTING IN THE BOX.  This shouldn’t be an issue…people lay on the floor.  “10 Burpee penalty” if we catch you.

7.  Speak Up – If you notice that equipment is broken, soap need refilling, etc., bring it to our attention so we can do something about it.

8.  Be Coachable and Accept Constructive Criticism – Check the ego at the door, and listen to the coaches.  We are here to help you become a better athlete.

9.  Do Not Cherry Pick the WODs – Don’t skip a day because you don’t like a movement or you aren’t good at it.  We want to focus on the weaknesses and make them our strengths.  The goal is to be well rounded!

10.  Don’t Cheat a Workout – You are only hurting your own fitness.  There are no awards or prizes given out to the person who has the most rounds, highest weight, or fastest time.  If your coach says “No REP,” do it again.

11.  HAVE FUN AND MEET EVERYONE – Walking into a Box can be intimidating.  When someone is new to class, introduce yourself and encourage them.  CrossFit stands out because of the community and culture that comes with it.  Let’s continue to foster our love for CrossFit to everyone that walks in that door.
